Bending Reality: Falling

A 5-DAY WORKSHOP THAT REVOLVES ENTIRELY AROUND THE PHENOMENON OF FALLING!

At Peeping Tom, we bend bodies to bend realities. But how do we let ourselves fall? How do we approach the ground, transform a fall into a choreographic element, avert it or reverse it? What physical qualities, states and choreographic tools can we explore to fall, again and again, and to get back up?

This workshop by Samuel Lefeuvre (@sam.lefeuvre) is intended for (semi-)professional dancers and acrobats who have a particular interest in falling and are already exploring the practice in their own work. It offers a space to deepen individual research through collective exploration: exchanging knowledge and skills, sharing techniques and tricks, and learning from one another’s approaches. Guests from other disciplines will also bring their own perspectives on falling, opening up the practice to new possibilities.

CONTEXT

The workshop takes place during the Belgian premiere week of Le Salon revisited, a revisitation of Peeping Tom’s original Le Salon (2004), in which Samuel Lefeuvre shone. The work can serve as a point of departure and a source of inspiration, opening up questions and physical territories to explore together. Rather than transmitting a fixed method, the workshop proposes a horizontal laboratory for experimentation
